Guide for PTA Volunteers
School PTA Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring schools participate effectively in the recycling process. Here’s how to manage the school’s recycling efforts through the Recycle.Blue app.
1. Setting Up Your Account
- Download the app and register as a PTA Volunteer.
- Enter Organization details: Provide information about your school, such as the name of the institute and principal contact details.
- Verify your identity by adding your personal and professional information.
2. Collecting Bags from Classrooms
- Every classroom will have color-coded bags (Blue for aluminum, Yellow for plastic, Brown for paper) and corresponding trash cans with barcodes.
- As a volunteer, your job is to collect full bags from each classroom, following these steps:
- Tie the bag with a tie specific to the class. The tie will display the teacher’s name and a matching barcode.
- Scan the barcodes of the bag, tie, and trash can. The app will confirm if the barcodes match by displaying a green tick.
- If the codes do not match, the app will alert you with an error message.
3. Tracking and Documenting
- Take a picture or video of the full bags before tying them to maintain a record.
- Enter class details, including the class name, section, and teacher’s name, for tracking purposes.
- Once the bags are tied and scanned, place them in the corresponding trash cans.
4. Notifying Recycling Advocates
- When the trash cans are full, you will need to notify Recycling Advocates to arrange a pickup.
- Use the app to send notifications and choose a date and time for collection.
5. Ordering Supplies
- If the school runs out of bags or ties, you can order more directly through the app.
6. Monthly Competitions
- Every month, Recycle.Blue will award prizes to the schools with the highest recycling contribution by weight or quantity.
- You’ll be notified of the monthly winner through the app, and you can share the good news with your school.
